As much as I like it there are times I don't need it. I've been waiting for an Android tablet that has some true pen enabled capabilities. While the flyer certainly does double duty as a media consumption device the ability to take and share notes and mark up and share pictures, documents and screen shots is what sets it apart.

1. (The Most Important Reason) The stylus! This is the only (widely available) device/tablet to fully incorporate an "active digitizer." Unlike the iPhone/iPad/Samsung Galxay/Asus Tablets/etc. The HTC Flyer is able to recognize where the stylus is on the screen RATHER THAN ONLY creating an electromagnetic field under the glass and approximating the position of input based on where the contact is made, therefore, where the EM field is disrupted, like the previously stated devices do.



I have already sat through hour+ long courses and found taking notes on the device to be very easy with a small amount of learning curve.



2. Small. Although i would have purchased a 10.1" version (If HTC made one) but i have found the size to be "just right.
Reviews for HTC Flyer 5MP,16GB,Android OS,AD2P 7inch WIFI Tablet (Personal Computers) There are many specifications-based reviews out there on the Flyer, so I won't repeat those, and instead base this write-up off of my experience with HTC's device over the last few weeks. I have to start this review by saying that I've been a tablet PC user for years, and have found many recreational and business related uses for computers that have active pen input. But even my current tablet PC, an HP Touchsmart, can get tiresome to carry around all the time. I work with kids, and needed a backup device that was small, quick to turn on, and could be loaded with fun activities for children. That's where the Android tablets come in. I rooted a couple of Nookcolors, and instantly fell in love with the 7" form factor. So when I learned that HTC was going to be releasing a 7" tablet with some kind of active stylus, it sounded like the best of both worlds (small android tablet with pen input), and I knew I had to check it out.

I have to say that when most people think of a stylus, they think of that plastic stick that they used to poke their old palm pilots with. That is NOT what this is, nor is it intended as a replacement for touch input. This pen input is intended as a replacement for pen and paper, as you might use when you draw or take handwritten notes. When you're talking about active pen input, you're looking for 3 things: Precision, pressure sensitivity, and palm rejection. I hate to be this blunt, but if you can't view a stylus as being anything other than that dead plastic stick from the old days of resistive screens, then this type of device just simply isn't for you.

When I learned that the Flyer used N-Trig technology instead of the Wacom digitizers I'm used to, I was initially hesitant. I do a lot of artwork and handwritten notes on the Touchsmart, and while it's not perfect on the HP, the Flyer would have a lot to live up to. I knew I had to test it first in a store before I bought it, because if it didn't work well, I might as well stick with the rooted Nooks which did many of the same things and were half the price. The local Best Buy had the Flyer on it's release date and so I tried it out.

I'll be the first to say that the pen experience on the Flyer is NOT up to the quality of the wacom tablet PCs. I don't know if it's the sensors, the N-Trig technology, or if it's simply how the Android OS handles pen input. However, having said that, it is worlds better than using a regular capacitive stylus on an ipad, galaxy tab, or other similar device. I tried using a nice capacitive stylus with my Nooks and it was no better than using my finger. The Flyer is a far better inking experience, and I feel comfortable drawing or taking notes with it.

I thought it worth comparing the two devices for anyone interested. Many of my comments are subjective so bear that in mind when reading the review.



External appearance and feel:

The iPad2 screen has a different feel from the Xoom screen - the iPad2 is a bit slicker, less likely to stick when moving short distances. The screen on the Xoom tends to show fingerprints more than the Ipad2 for some reason. Everyone in this family thinks that the iPad2 looks sharper than the Xoom.



Both weigh 1.6 lbs. Subjectively, the Xoom feels heavier than the Ipad2, but it's an illusion perhaps caused by it's slightly smaller size. UPDATE: I need to learn to use the scales - the Xoom is about 3 ounces heavier than the iPad2.



Both have a similar size screen, measured diagonally. But the aspect ratio is different - 4:3 for iPad2, 16:9 for Xoom. This means that the iPad2 actually has a larger viewing area, and this makes a real difference when scrolling through a web site. The iPad2 screen is brighter than the Xoom screen.

Let me begin by saying this upfront, I don't work for Apple, I don't own Apple Stock, and whether you buy an iPad, Xoom, a laptop or a pad of paper and pencil I don't get anything for writing this. I'm not an Apple "fanboy" although I can give credit where credit is due and lately Apple has deserved a lot of credit for some of their products.



Physical Characteristics

The iPad 2 is absurdly thin. More importantly than it's thinness is its tapered edge which feels more natural in your hand. One of the biggest complaints about the original iPad was it really wasn't tremendously comfortable to hold for long periods at a time. For a tablet device designed to be held, that's a pretty big deal. Apple really has done an amazing job of cramming everything into an even smaller space than before and the difference is really noticeable when you're holding the device. In addition to the tapered edge, Apple managed to reduce the overall weight of the iPad 2. That might not seem like a huge deal to most, especially when you consider the weight difference isn't tremendous when you're already under 2 pounds, but I spend a good part of my day holding the iPad in my hands and the weight difference is surprising by the end of the day. The first generation isn't heavy by any means, but the iPad 2 outshines it.



New and "Improved"

Apple doubled the RAM in the iPad 2 from 256MB to 512MB. What does that mean? For most casual users, probably not a whole lot. There is a performance bump that everyone will see the effects of in things like loading times for webpages that are open in the background, but 256MB was sufficient for most daily use and games. If you're planning to use your device for some of the more graphically intense games the iPad 2 does offer a better method of graphics processing that'll help deliver faster images with fewer jerky movements. If you're just playing Angry birds and reading e-mail you're not going to know the difference.



The screen is the same for all real purposes.

The capacitive screen is almost unheard of in this price range as well as the dual core processor. This processing speed isn't as fast as I imagined it would be. When I run Quadrant Standard the tablet scores an 1127 which better than the Samsung Galaxy S, but not as good as the Droid X, Evo, or Nexus One with Android 2.2, none of which are dual core. This is just a number though and overall responsiveness of the tablet is great. Web browsing is very acceptable.

Shipped directly from China on 8/8/11 and received on 8/12/11. Been using it every day since for a couple of hours a day. K1 came with everything updated with all latest versions including Netflix. So far have had no issues which other reviews have pointed out including professional reviews found elsewhere on the net.

1. Has not froze or crashed once.

2. Have downloaded a couple of movies from Netflix and spent about 20 minutes watching without issues however never watched a complete movie.

3. YouTube works fine with no buffering problems.

4. Load times for surfing the net are slower than my PC's however don't think comparing a PC to a tablet is a fair comparison. Tablet to tablet makes sense which I haven't done and the speed is not that bad.

5. Don't see a need for half the apps included but they can be deleted and each to their own.

6. Screen sharpness is excellent.

Based on the many negative reviews and my lack of any problems might very well have to do with the first lot of tablets which had to be shipped early in July to meet the late July first day of sale.

I would recommend this tablet.

Let me first say, I'm doing this review to help those people, like I was, who have been sitting on the fence waiting for a good option apart from the Ipad 2, so I apologize for the lengthy review.



I do have access to an Ipad 2 (when my daughter is not hammering away at it) & I must say that I love it, but being an android phone user, could not get comfortable with the iTunes thingy & the plain old icons interface. However, for a not so technical user, I think the Ipad is the best Tablet choice out there.



However, apart from liking what I had seen of the Android Honeycomb OS, I was also looking for an Android Tablet with connections (hdmi out, sd card slot, etc.) so that ruled out my early favorite, the Galaxy Tab 10.1. After looking & trying the rest I settled on either the Toshiba Thrive, which is fat, but really has a nice feel in your hands, & the Asus Transformer, which has a nice screen & that keyboard dock. Eventually ruled out the Thrive as I couldn't get over the washed out graphics on the screen & the power problems in sleep mode. So it was the Asus..... until I stumbled on an article on the Lenovo Ideapad K1 which grabbed my attention the very night I was going to order the Asus here on Amazon. (Sorry Amazon!)I decided to check it out at Office Depot the next day as it was rumoured they had it on display but not stocked.



Now, I usually buy all my big electronic purchases from Amazon but I couldn't let this one pass since Office Depot only had one in stock.

Right out of the box, most apps will work, including the documents reader. If you received one of the earlier shipped models, however, the promised Netflix app is missing, and many market apps will be unstable (I tried Google Sky). You need to perform an update which will provide Netflix and stability fixes (Google Sky works very well now).



The included documents reader is a definite bonus for this tablet. For example, I'm able to read Office (Word, Excel, etc.) attachments on e-mail. I can download PDFs and read them comfortably. The PDF rendering speed is pretty zippy, fast enough that I'm not distracted by it while reading. For small-font, double-column text that's popular in many professional journals, it's easy to find a screen orientation and zoom level for comfortable reading. Panning around a zoomed-in PDF page is intuitive and smooth.



The reception of the built-in wifi receiver is not as good as my laptop or IPhone. Typically, the signal strength on my Ideapad is 1 bar below my other devices. The signal strength icon is not just cosmetic; when the signal strength appears as 1 bar or below, web page loading and app downloads slow down considerably.



I've also noticed that the wifi receiver can perform better or worse depending on the network.

-The case is metal, which gives it a nice feel.

-USB (micro and full-size) - If you're so inclined, you can plug a USB hub into the USB port and then connect a keyboard and mouse. A cursor appears on screen when using a mouse (if you're using Android 3.2), so it feels like a regular computer. I make regular use of this feature.

-HDMI - You'll need a micro HDMI-to-HDMI adapter to connect it to your TV, but those are cheap. The HDMI output works as advertised.

-SD (micro) - A simple and cheap way to extend the storage capacity of your tablet. I have the 16GB tablet, so this will probably come in handy in the near future when I start loading tons of stuff onto the device.

-If you want to copy files to the tablet, just connect it to your computer via USB. The tablet's storage devices appear on your computer as external drives so you can just copy/paste whatever you want. Nice and easy.

-I even like that the power supply plugs into a separate port.

-The price - For all the features this tablet has, the price is very reasonable.

The bad:

-Crappy screen. In bright light there is a highly visible pattern of "X"-like objects on the surface of the screen. In low lighting, the color, clarity, and brightness just aren't as good as other tablets I've used (iPad, Samsung Galaxy Tab).

-This tablet is larger and heavier than others. I don't mind it, but it is noticeable.

-The device ships with Android 3.01 and if you want Acer's official Android 3.2 update right now you'll have to do a little bit of work to force it to install. Acer's "update" feature does not appear to work as it should, since it always informed me that 3.01 was the most up to date version, which it wasn't.

-Battery life isn't that great.

Overall:

It's a worthy tablet if you want tons of ports, 3G/4G data capability, and you don't want to spend too much money. But the screen sucks, so you might want to demo this device in a store before going through with the purchase.

The item is fine just like it's A500 brethren.

The only problem is that it is locked to AT&T and it ships with an AT&T card in it.

Nowhere on the amazon product page it mentions AT&T.

Needless to say, trying to contact AT&T for the Network Unlock SIM code - they were less than useless (it seems that they are trying to give a new meaning for useless).

Acer support told me that the device should not be unlocked.

After spending many hours contacting Amazon, Acer and AT&T, I am returning this device. I do not want to use it with AT&T and I see myself forced to return it.

I will not return it and ask for a replacement just to see if it comes unlocked.

I will save myself the trouble and return it for a refund.

I gave it three stars since the product performance is good except that outside the AT&T network is useless.

Oh did I mention that I have been waiting for this particular model for over a month to be released??

I am losing faith in Amazon. Although their return service is good. A little foot note on how the device ships with the ATT card in it and being locked will render it useless would have saved me a great deal of frustration.

I was lucky to grab the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101-A1 10.1-Inch Tablet Computer (Tablet Only) on launch date and he just got the Iconia. Both of us are on the market for at least one, possibly 2 more tablets (me with 2 high school kids and a third catching up fast) so we agreed to swap our new gadgets for a couple of days so we could each better decide what our second Android tablet was going to be.



Here's my 2-day evaluation of Iconia vs. Transformer with frequent references to the other better known tablet players such as the iPad and the Xoom. This is going to be a quick and incomplete comparison so do feel free to add your own categories as comments to this review.



- FREEDOM (even) - They are both non-iPad tablets that are technologically on par (and here and there superior) with the 'leader' AND reasonably priced AND, unlike the iPad, they don't force us, the paying customers, into some 'ecosystem' mandatory straightjacket. While not perfect, both the Transformer and Iconia offer a great deal when it comes to features and expandability. The Honeycomb is a reasonably open OS. You are free by default as you should be. There's no need to jailbreak because you're free. You can shop on more than one app store, do comparison shopping, download beta code and you can even run Flash.



But let me continue with my brief Transformer vs. Iconia comparison.



- PRICE (Transformer) - with everything else more or less equal, the Asus tablet beats the Iconia by $50. It can be argued that the Iconia has some advantages - I like its solid aluminum backside - but the Transformer has its own so, on a Dollar vs. Dollar competition, the Transformer wins. They each come with options and expansions but, unlike cars, you can get a lot off the base models.



- DISPLAY (even) - Both come with 10.1", 16x9 (wide screen). In my view, they both beat the iPad's 9.7" screen which is in a 4x3 format. Apples has a few more square inches but movies show much better on a 16x9 screen. The viewing angle is quite wide with few distortions and the colors are rich and bright when used in a room under natural or artificial light. Outside, the glare is significant.



- RESOLUTION (even) - 1280x800 on both the Transformer and the Iconia translate in 30% more pixels than iPad's and a few more pixels per square inch.



- INTERNAL MEMORY (even) - 1 GB is twice as much than iPad's (better multi-tasking) and on par with the more expensive Xoom.



- PROCESSOR (even) - 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra 2 (2 x Cortex A9) is on par with Xoom, clock speed similar with iPad 2.

I was deciding between an Ipad2 (and had actually purchased one), an Asus Transformer, and the A500. I became frustrated with the limitations of the Ipad 2, and once it became clear that the Asus Tranformer wouldn't have adequate stock for weeks, I decided to give the A500 a try. No regrets, and I ended up returning the Ipad2.

Why this is better than an I pad 2 -

- Micro SD card slot gives this all the memory you practically need with just a 16 gb model. Cards are cheap - you can get a 32 gb card for $50. No card slot on the I pad 2.

I did get a software update a while back for the A500, and it did fix the screen waking up, this made it so that the battery will now last for a couple of days of light use before it runs out, compared to being plugged in everyday like it was before when the screen would wake up for notifications.



I haven't really noticed any other large changes from the previous version. On the other hand, I did see that a leaked version of the 3.1 upgrade is out on the web today, so we should be getting that upgrade soon, and it sounds like a lot of enhancements are in that update.



One other thing of note, is that I picked up a wireless usb keyboard for use with the A500, and it worked fine for me, but my wife was trying to use it with blogger and she said she was having problems with it. Seems like it couldn't quite keep up with her typing. It doesn't seem to be the keyboard but the A500 that was the limiting factor, because I used the keyboard on a normal laptop, and didn't notice any lag.



I still really like using the A500 over having to use a normal laptop like I was before, it is just so much nicer that it is always on and I can just hit the power button and go! Still very happy with this purchase.



END UPDATE

I bought this the week it showed up in a brick and mortar store near me. I love having a tablet around, it is much quick to just pick it up and use it instead of having to wake up/start up my computer. I use this for most of my web browsing now when I am at home, and I also take the tablet to work and use it for music via bluetooth (works perfectly with my sony DR-BT50 headphones).



HDMI

I have also purchased an hdmi cable for the tablet and that works awesome. When you plug in the hdmi cable, it will automatically start mirroring the display, and the sound worked through the TV speakers as expected. I have noticed that since the resolution on the A500 is 1280x800 it cuts off part of the top and bottom when it is connected to my tv, which runs it at 720p (1280x720). This is a minor annoyance because I was able to share videos and other content quickly and easily with the tablet, where as with my laptop, it never seems to work as nice.



Sound & Display

The sound on the tablet is really good, I was kind of surprised, for such a small thing to have such good sound.

Reviews for Acer Iconia Tab A100-07u08u 7-inch Tablet (8GB) (Personal Computers) First off let me say that for the two months that I owned it-- I absolutely LOVED my Nook Color. I enjoy reading and do it whenever I get some downtime. The Nook Color was great for this. It was the perfect portable size, its screen was clear and easy to read, and it had the benefit of being able to run a minimal selection games, apps, music, etc.



Then I made the mistake of rooting CM7 to it.



Suddenly, my perfect ereader became only a passable Android tablet. The Nook Color as a Android tablet left me wanting....wanting a real Android tablet. So $300 later, I'm the proud owner of a new Acer Iconia A100.



I've only been able to play with this tablet for a few days and so far I've been very impressed. The A100 is quick and responsive. Apps and games are readily available through the Android Market. Plus, you still get to take advantage of the Invidia Tegrazone Game Market as well. First thing I did was download a couple live wallpapers to see if it'll cause any lag. I've experienced no lag thus far.



The smaller unit is much more portable compared to the larger tablets. You aren't sacrificing all that much with a smaller screen. As an e-reader, it works much like a Nook Color.



And, to my surprise, it's very well constructed. From seeing picture on the web and watching youtube videos, I was expecting it to be more plastic than anything else but the unit feels solid and well built. I'm still waiting on getting a 32gb microSD to add movies and music on so I cannot comment on those functions just yet. The speakers are okay for what they are and you can always get some good headphones. I believe the A100 has bluetooth so I'll have to find my bluetooth headphones and try them.





The only drawbacks to this tablet:



-- The battery life which is VERY short. You will need to carry around the power adapter or get a car adapter if you bring it anywhere for a long stretch.



-- Non-IPS screen. This unit needs an IPS screen.

My first was a very low budget tablet, the Archos 7 Home Tablet, the second was the Archos 70 Internet Tablet. I was looking for a tablet with more features, most importantly a rear camera and a GPS, but I didn't want to spend $600.



When I rate anything, I rate it based on what is being promised vs what has been delivered. So although I may mention cons in this review, it still scores a perfect rating because those cons are disclosed up front and I wasn't hit with any curve balls.



cons:

-No kick stand. I loved this about my first two tablets and I missed it on day 2 with this tablet.

-Short battery life. I am used to a 7 hour battery life and this tablet cuts 2 hours off of that.

-New OS version brings some apps not being ready. Not the device's fault, but it is still a bummer to see a Force Close.



pros:

-Honeycomb. My other two tablets were 1.5 and 2.2, so this is an amazing experience in comparison

-Price. This is an AMAZING deal considering it is competitively priced but has so many features that you would expect from a premium tablet

-GPS, gyrosensor, light sensor, rear camera, front camera, 1ghz dual core processor, 1 gb ram

-WiFi is super powerful in comparison to my other tablets.

-Very fast and responsive



Screen:

I wish the light sensor would kick it to full brightness more often, but I just turned the auto off and keep it at 50% brightness. The screen doesn't have the best viewing angles, but that is typical with the screen type. However, the display is super sharp and looks great!



WiFi:

When sitting at my desk, I was at maybe 5% reception for WiFi on my old tablet and I often dropped the connection depending on where it was sitting on my desk. With this tablet, I am about 50% reception and I haven't dropped yet.

After a lot of tinkering, resetting Android and more tinkering: I did pair and tether this with a bluetooth phone. Media cataloging and UPnP media streaming, while slow to connect, does work perfectly. Not sure what changed other than a lot of patience. Some items that I thought were not working just needed to be left alone for a bit and eventually would go thru. However Wifi seems to only connect at G speeds when all my other devices connect easily at N speeds.

I first bought their gen 5 device that made other personal media players look silly and had wifi and a touch screen. Each new generation impressed me. Last year I bought the first Android tablet I ever saw, the gen 7 Archos 5 IT. It was launched in Oct 2009 with a lot of flaws, but was a compelling device. By early 2010 it had become stable and very impressive but I always wanted a bigger screen. I bought their gen 8 7 inch A70 and the 10.1 inch A101 as soon as they were available on the Archos web site. I wanted to buy on Amazon but the demand for these tablets has been so intense they have been selling out every shipment in hours or days.



Before I get to the good and bad let me address some comments here. It is important to realize with technology that your experience may or may not be the norm. Some people said they have trouble with wifi. I have had this on my home system with 35 Mbps Fios and WPA2, my Clear WiMax with WEP and my Rooted Vibrant mobile AP with WPA2.

I thought it worth comparing the two devices for anyone interested. Many of my comments are subjective so bear that in mind when reading the review.



External appearance and feel:

The iPad2 screen has a different feel from the Xoom screen - the iPad2 is a bit slicker, less likely to stick when moving short distances. The screen on the Xoom tends to show fingerprints more than the Ipad2 for some reason. Everyone in this family thinks that the iPad2 looks sharper than the Xoom.



Both weigh 1.6 lbs. Subjectively, the Xoom feels heavier than the Ipad2, but it's an illusion perhaps caused by it's slightly smaller size. UPDATE: I need to learn to use the scales - the Xoom is about 3 ounces heavier than the iPad2.



Both have a similar size screen, measured diagonally. But the aspect ratio is different - 4:3 for iPad2, 16:9 for Xoom. This means that the iPad2 actually has a larger viewing area, and this makes a real difference when scrolling through a web site. The iPad2 screen is brighter than the Xoom screen.



Hardware performance:

The Xoom feels a bit faster than the iPad2, and the specs show that it is faster. Both have dual core processors based on ARM designs. The Xoom seems to be able to handle graphics better than the iPad2. As far as connecting to Wifi networks, both seem to have this one down pat - they both just work.



User Interface:

The iPad2 is just like a big iPhone. Whether this good or bad is subjective. For me, it's good - polished, flexible and can be customized to my needs. The Xoom user interface is totally new, and unfortunately it shows - there are many rough edges. Some examples: moving icons around to group programs together is not intuitive and they keep moving back; you can see the first 5 applications running on the Xoom and select one, but the list doesn't scroll so applications that don't show in the list can't be selected; you can't close applications (except by a force quit that can lose data) as the Xoom decides when to quit an application; customization is possible but more difficult than the iPad2.

Reviews for ASUS Eee Slate EP121-1A010M 12.1-Inch Tablet PC (Personal Computers) I think the EP121 is the best windows tablet to date. It's well designed and performs pretty well. I plan to use these devices at work during client meetings and presentations.



What I liked:



- It's Windows 7 so we will be able to use it in a corp environment. Clients want us to use iPads but compatibility, security, and flash support just isn't there yet.

- It already comes with the keyboard and stand. Please factor that in with the price.

- Has bluetooth and many of the ports I expect to use.

- The screen is a nice size so you can demo applications or slide desks on it to a small group.

- The unit isn't heavy so you can hand it around to people.



What I don't like:



- Windows 7 touch interface isn't as good as other touch interfaces. Hopefully this will improve over time

- The cost of the ep121 will probably make it a non-mainstream device.

- If they sold this without the keyboard, I could use one I already have and save money

- Like the other reviewer said, a finger print reader would rock.



Who should buy it:



- Those that want a tablet experience AND the ability to run windows 7 applications.

- Those that want to use a tablet in a corporate environment, as this tablet should meet security requirements.

Summary:



Pros

+ It's like it was was made for OneNote - stylus input and handwriting recognition are incredible

+ Screen is very bright and crisp, great viewing angles

+ Touch input experience is good as well, supports pinch zoom, etc

+ Fast, responsive, boots quick, runs Win7 apps well, good experience with office suite

+ Email and Web browsing is surprisingly easy with either touch or stylus input

+ Can handle some higher end games, though not a gaming machine

= Was expecting it to be too heavy but was pleasantly surprised that is was not

= Was expecting the Win7 touch experience to be terrible, but it wasn't bad

= Is expensive but not bad if you compare it to a laptop with a core i5 and active digitizer



Cons

- Battery life is dismal

- Password entry is not fun, wish it had a fingerprint reader





Important tip - make sure to install the optional firmware update to the digitizer from Windows Update.

I've been keeping an eye out for a machine like this for years to use at work. I don't like using laptops to take notes. The flipped up screen and noise of typing is distracting to a conversation. This machine offers an experience like using pen and paper with all the advantages of electronic notes.



The combination of a good digitizer, the great handwriting recognition and palm reject of OneNote, and the general design of the tablet itself help make it the best machine I've seen for taking notes. The tablet is relatively heavy but still quite comfortable to hold in the palm of my hand or crook of my arm. It also rests well on a table. The stylus pops out of the tablet itself so you aren't forced to use a case (I don't). The tablet is quite thin and there is a solid border for gripping that keeps you from inadvertently touching the screen.



The screen itself looks really good - very bright and crisp. It will likely be the first thing you notice when you pick it up. Touch interface is also snappier than I expected, though the pinch zoom is not quite as smooth as the iPhone/iPad.



I was surprised with the email and browsing experience (use Outlook, Gmail, and Firefox). Clicking on links and small icons really isn't as hard as I was expecting, the touch keyboard works ok, and windows picks up handwriting pretty well.

Pros:



+ Price includes Bluetooth KeyBoard and a folio as well. $100 value at Apple rates. Doesn't come with a docking option.

+ Comes with a digitizer Pen, which is very useful for hand written notes and also helps overcome some of the UI related issues with Win 7 (tiny icons, etc.)

+ The boot time on this system (Press the power button --> desktop is usable) is awesome: 18-19 sec (no initial POST Messages). That is faster than iPad shutdown --> desktop.

+ Media Playback is excellent whether it is H.264 or VC1 content. And the CPU does it so easily

+ Thermal: Excellent. After hours of use (media playback, streaming, etc), the bottom surface is pretty normal temperature. Absolutely no heat. Vents are the top and bottom middle. Fan exists, but is very quiet. Design is good.

+ 12.1" panel size and 1280x800 resolution are a good combination. Text on the screen looks the right size.

+ 2.5 LB: is not too heavy. A smaller size (11.6") could have made it a little lighter.

+ With all the USB, SD, mini-HDMI, etc, it can do everything your regular laptop can do.



Well it doesn't obviously address to Win 7 OS native issues - like hard to touch the window buttons, etc. But if one is looking for a Win 7 based tablet, this is an excellent choice. Also, Windows not having a Market Place like Android/Apple, the usage is still going to be PC type (Start --> Control Panel:)) So, if you don't like that, this tablet will not do any magic. You may wish Microsoft does things differently in Windows 8.



Battery Life: With a 12.1" screen size and a powerful system, you can't expect this system to be performing like iPad. But I think it can easily do 5-6 hrs of continuous use. Check out what ASUS Claims.



Well I have run quite a whole list of benchmarks on this system, but won't post those here. But with a 1.33Ghz Intel Dual Core CPU, this is an awesome system. A 699-799$-ish price tag would make the system a good deal.
